My reasons for doing it this way are for both good sound production and comfortable ergonomics. I do not believe that you have to have a deep lower bout to get good bass response or a lot of volume. WebLower bout depth: 3 7/8" Waist: 4 1/14" Upper bout: 3 7/8" The waist is the deepest part of the soundbox, a standard feature in all Edwinson guitars. Total guitar length is 41 3/16".
